About the Composer: Brant Karrick

Brant Karrick has shaped band programs at multiple institutions throughout his career, serving as Director of Bands at Northern Kentucky University since 2003 and bringing prior experience from the University of Toledo and Kentucky public schools. His work spans conducting, composition, arranging, and music education theory; he earned his Ph.D. in music education from Louisiana State University in 1994 and holds degrees in music education and educational leadership from the University of Louisville and Western Kentucky University.

Karrick's compositions have traveled internationally, performed across North America, Europe, South Africa, South America, Japan, and Australia. Active as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician, he remains committed to teacher preparation and ensemble development. His musical foundation includes studies with trumpet performer Leon Rapier, educators Cornelia Yarborough, and conductors Frank Wickes, alongside composition mentorship from David Livingston, Steve Beck, and Cecil Karrick.
