About the Composer: Brant Karrick

Brant Karrick has shaped band programs across three decades as a teacher, conductor, and composer. Since 2003, he has served as Director of Bands at Northern Kentucky University, where he oversees the full band curriculum and teaches conducting, instrumentation, and music theory. His work in music education began in public schools in Kentucky and continued through nine years at the University of Toledo, giving him broad experience across educational levels.

As a composer and arranger, Karrick's works have traveled worldwide—performed across North America, Europe, South Africa, South America, Asia, and Australia. He remains active as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator while maintaining his teaching responsibilities. His formal training includes a Ph.D. in music education from Louisiana State University (1994), a Master's degree from Western Kentucky University, and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Louisville. He studied trumpet, conducting, and composition with respected mentors including Frank Wickes and David Livingston.
