About the Composer: Brian Balmages

Brian Balmages has built a career as both composer and conductor working across orchestral, band, and chamber music at every level from elementary schools to professional symphony orchestras. His works have appeared on stages at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Sydney Opera House, and the Toronto Centre for the Arts. He holds membership in the American Bandmasters Association, received the A. Austin Harding Award from the American School Band Directors Association, and won the 2020 NBA William D. Revelli Composition Contest.

Beyond his compositional achievements, Balmages maintains an active conducting schedule with all-state ensembles, university groups, and regional orchestras worldwide. His music was performed during the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Prayer Service attended by President Obama and Vice President Biden. He currently serves as Director of MakeMusic Publications and Digital Education for Alfred and MakeMusic.
