About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams built his career on understanding what beginning band students need to play and what directors need to teach. A prolific composer with over 200 published works, Williams co-authored the Accent on Achievement Band Method and spent decades in Washington classrooms focused on elementary band instruction. His clinical work took him across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia, giving him insight into the real challenges and victories of school music programs.

Beyond the page, Williams was an accomplished bassoon performer and arranger who served with the 560th Air Force Band. He conducted the Spokane British Brass Band and earned recognition including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. His degrees from Eastern Washington University grounded his approach in both music and education.
