About the Composer: Lois Brownsey

Lois Brownsey spent her formative years in Philadelphia studying at Temple University and the Guitar Workshop while immersing herself in musical theatre. Her long partnership with Marti Lunn Lantz has resulted in numerous choral publications through Alfred, spanning seasonal works, multicultural repertoire, and song collections that reflect their shared interest in contemporary choral writing. Beyond composition, Brownsey's career has included commercial jingle writing for major clients and decades of performing in pop, rock, and blues ensembles across the United States and internationally.

Now based in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains, Brownsey co-owns Red Rock recording Studios with her husband, recording engineer Kent Heckman. The studio has become a hub for Alfred recording projects, giving Brownsey direct insight into how choral music translates from page to sound. She remains active in her local arts and community life, drawing on a career that spans performance, composition, and the technical side of music production.
