Robert T. Gibson

Robert T. Gibson brings deep roots in music education and community engagement to his compositional work. A Houston native, he holds degrees from the University of North Texas (Bachelor of Music Education) and Missouri State University (Master of Music), where he later served as an adjunct professor and conductor of the Gospel Choir. Gibson has directed choirs at middle school, high school, and collegiate levels while maintaining an active presence as a clinician and guest conductor across Texas, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Tennessee, and New York.

Beyond the classroom, Gibson has earned recognition for his contributions to music and civic life. He received the 2020 Missouri Choral Directors Association Opus Award for his arrangement of "We Shall Overcome" and was honored with the 2022 NAACP Trailblazer Award. His choirs have performed at significant community events, including the Missouri Music Education Association Conference and the Jackson Day Democratic Party Banquet. Gibson's published works appear through Walton Music and Alfred Publications, and his arrangements have been selected for performance by the Texas All-State Tenor Bass Choir and Missouri Summer All-State Choir.
