About the Composer: Richard Meyer

Richard Meyer spent 35 years teaching strings in public schools, building the Oak Avenue Intermediate School orchestra from 29 students to 200 and directing the city's elementary string program. He led the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra for 16 years, conducting performances across North America, Europe, and Australia, and founded the "Giving Bach" program to bring interactive concerts to special needs and under-resourced students throughout Southern California.

Meyer's influence extends beyond the podium. He has clinicked at major conferences including the A.S.T.A. National Conference and Texas Orchestra Directors' Association Conference, guest-conducted All-State orchestras in multiple states, and spent 16 years as string editor for Alfred Publishing. His catalogue includes over 190 published compositions and arrangements, and he co-authored the String Explorer Series and Sight-read It for Strings.
