About the Composer: David O'Fallon

David O'Fallon began composing and arranging in elementary school and developed his craft through formal studies at Northern Illinois University, where he earned degrees in Elementary Education and Music Theory and Composition. His work with the NIU Jazz Ensemble as staff arranger grounded him in contemporary arranging practices that inform his orchestral writing.

O'Fallon has performed as a percussionist and violist with the Chicago Civic Orchestra and contributed to the bass section of the Chicago Symphony Chorus. He regularly augments the percussion section of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, appearing on approximately 20 recordings and concert tours. The Chicago chapter of the American String Teachers Association has commissioned him four times to create contemporary works specifically designed for younger players, establishing him as a composer deeply invested in accessible yet sophisticated music education.
