Jack Wilds composes for ensembles across the entire age and ability spectrum, from elementary choirs through professional orchestras. His music draws inspiration from visual art, literature, philosophy, and pure musical ideas, consistently balancing accessibility with artistic depth. His chamber works have been championed by ensembles including the Attacca Quartet, members of the New York Philharmonic and Atlanta Symphony, and the University of Texas New Music Ensemble.

Wilds spent years in the public school band room before joining the faculty at Texas State University, where he teaches composition, theory, ear training, and music technology. Over 40 of his publications serve developing musicians, and his wind band works appear regularly on festival repertoire lists across multiple continents. He has studied composition with Michael Ippolito, Chris Trapani, and Donald Grantham, and maintains active work as a clinician, adjudicator, and church musician.
