About the Composer: Kirk Vogel

Kirk Vogel

Kirk Vogel earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Capital University in 1980 and completed his Masters of Music Education at the University of Northern Colorado in 1987. Throughout his career in Colorado schools, he taught band, orchestra, choir, and jazz at multiple institutions, most notably Heath Junior High/Heath Middle School in Greeley, where his ensembles performed at Colorado Music Educators Association conventions. His compositions have been recognized with four CMEA Composers Competition wins and performed by the Pittsburgh Symphony, Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra, community bands, and student ensembles across elementary through college levels.

In retirement, Vogel remains active as a guest conductor, adjudicator, clinician, and published composer with works available through Kjos Music Company, Alfred Music, Grand Mesa Music, and Southern Music. He is a writer and publisher member of ASCAP and was inducted into the Colorado Music Educators Hall of Fame in 2020. His compositions continue to appear at state conventions, the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, and the American School Band Directors Association National Convention.
