Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has spent over three decades shaping American choral music as a composer, conductor, and clinician with a particular gift for integrating movement into vocal performance. Her catalog of more than 600 published choral works and 75 larger musicals and songbooks reflects her deep understanding of what singers need and what audiences want to hear. She has led honor choirs at major venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center, and has received the ASCAP Special Music Award annually since 1987.

Albrecht's career began after earning degrees from Rollins College (B.A. in Music and Theater, 1976) and the University of Miami (M.A. in Drama, 1977; M.M. in Accompanying, 1979). She served as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications for major educational publishers, including Alfred Music, and has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. Her contributions to music education leadership earned her the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College in 2021.
