Jay Althouse

Jay Althouse holds degrees in Music Education and Music from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he was honored with the Distinguished Alumni award. His experience in the music publishing industry, including eight years managing rights and licenses and a term on the Executive Board of the Music Publishers Association of America, shaped his deep understanding of choral repertoire and the needs of music educators.

With more than 800 choral works in print across all ability levels, Althouse has established himself as a prolific voice in American choral music. His compositions are performed widely throughout English-speaking countries, and he is a regular recipient of the ASCAP Special Award. Beyond composing, he has authored and co-written numerous educational resources including The Complete Choral Warm-up Book, Accent on Composers, and multiple reproducible classroom materials. He resides in North Carolina and remains active in the folk music community through his work with the Folk Art Society of America.
