Jay Althouse

Jay Althouse holds degrees in Music Education and Music from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he was later recognized with the Distinguished Alumni award. He spent eight years working in rights and licensing for a major educational music publisher and served on the Executive Board of the Music Publishers Association of America during his tenure there.

With more than 800 choral works in print across all ability levels, Althouse has established himself as a prolific voice in choral composition. His music circulates widely throughout English-speaking countries, and he maintains active membership in ASCAP, receiving regular recognition through the ASCAP Special Award. Beyond composition, he has co-authored children's musicals with Sally K. Albrecht, curated vocal solo collections, and written pedagogical resources including The Complete Choral Warm-up Book and Accent on Composers. He has also served on boards for the North Carolina Master Chorale and the Folk Art Society of America.
