About the Composer: Vince Gassi

Vince Gassi has been composing for Alfred Music since 2006 and brings decades of classroom experience to every score he writes. A fixture on the international concert and contest circuit, his 100+ published works consistently strike that difficult balance between genuine musical substance and genuine student engagement. He holds degrees from the University of Western Ontario and completed his Ph.D. at York University, with additional training in composition and arranging at the Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles.

For 25 years, Gassi has taught instrumental music at the elementary and secondary levels, a background that shapes his approach to every commission. He conducts clinics and adjudicates throughout North America while leading workshops on creative pedagogy and digital workflows for music directors. His pieces appear regularly at the Midwest Clinic and have been performed across North America, Europe, and Japan.
