About the Composer: Todd Stalter

Todd Stalter

Todd Stalter built a legendary 34-year tenure as Director of Bands at Eureka High School in Illinois, where his program earned a statewide reputation for musical excellence. His marching band captured 16 Class 1A state championships, his concert band consistently achieved Superior ratings at state contests, and his ensembles performed at Orchestra Hall in Chicago and Walt Disney World. He has served as a guest conductor for All-State Bands in Georgia and Delaware, maintains an active schedule as an adjudicator and clinician, and has presented at major state and regional music education conferences.

Stalter earned both his Bachelor of Music Education (cum laude) and Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from Illinois State University, where he studied trumpet under Richard Lehman of the United States Marine Band. His compositions for band and string orchestra are performed widely across the United States and appear on numerous state festival and contest lists. Many of his works are featured in the "Teaching Music Through Performance in Band" series published by GIA.
