About the Composer: Todd Stalter

Todd Stalter

Todd Stalter built a legendary 34-year tenure as Director of Bands at Eureka High School in Illinois, where he cultivated one of the state's most respected band programs. His marching band won 16 Class 1A state championships, his concert ensembles consistently earned Superior ratings at IHSA contests, and his students performed in venues ranging from Orchestra Hall in Chicago to Walt Disney World. Beyond his classroom, Stalter has guest conducted All-State Bands in Georgia and Delaware, adjudicated at the highest levels, and presented clinics throughout the Midwest on conducting, composition, and music education.

As a composer, Stalter's works circulate widely across American concert programs and appear regularly on state festival lists. Several of his compositions have been selected for the prestigious Teaching Music Through Performance in Band series by GIA. He holds degrees from Illinois State University in Music Education and Trumpet Performance, where he studied conducting with Dr. Stephen K. Steele and counted among his mentors some of the region's most influential musicians.
