About the Composer: Jack Wilds

Jack Wilds composes for ensembles spanning from children's choirs through professional orchestras, drawing inspiration from visual art, literature, philosophy, and pure musical structure. His chamber works have been championed by the Attacca Quartet, members of the New York Philharmonic and Atlanta Symphony, and ensembles at the University of Texas; his compositions regularly appear on festival required repertoire lists across multiple continents and have been heard at the Midwest Clinic and educator conferences nationwide.

A former public school band director, Wilds brings classroom experience to his extensive catalog of works for developing musicians, with over 40 publications for wind ensemble and choir. He lectures at Texas State University in composition, theory, and music technology, serves as Co-Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church in San Marcos, and maintains an active schedule as clinician and adjudicator. His teachers include Michael Ippolito, Chris Trapani, and Donald Grantham.
