About the Composer: Brian Balmages

Brian Balmages commands respect across orchestral, band, and chamber music circles, with performances ranging from professional symphony orchestras to school ensembles at iconic venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and Sydney Opera House. His accolades include the A. Austin Harding Award from the American School Band Directors Association, the 2020 NBA William D. Revelli Composition Contest for Love and Light, and membership in the American Bandmasters Association.

As both composer and conductor, Balmages maintains an active schedule guest conducting all-state ensembles, university groups, and professional orchestras worldwide. He has appeared at the Midwest Clinic, Western International Band Clinic, and numerous national conferences. Currently serving as Director of MakeMusic Publications and Digital Education for Alfred and MakeMusic, he holds Distinguished Alumni recognition from James Madison University and was commissioned by the University of Miami to compose for the inauguration of its 6th president.
