About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has shaped American choral music for over three decades as a composer, conductor, and clinician with a distinctive focus on movement and accessibility. Her catalog of more than 600 choral works and 75 larger stage works reflects her deep engagement with educational settings; she served as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at major educational publishers, including Alfred Music, and has conducted honor choirs at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center. An ASCAP award recipient since 1987, Albrecht holds degrees from Rollins College (B.A., Music and Theater, 1976) and the University of Miami (M.A. in Drama, M.M. in Accompanying), and has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College.

Beyond composition, Albrecht has served as Chair of the Board of Trustees for Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and received their "Pillar of Leadership" award. In 2021, both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College honored her with Distinguished Alumna Awards. She lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina, with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse.
