About the Composer: Wayne Dauer

Wayne Dauer grew up with piano as his primary instrument and expanded his musicianship through voice, classical guitar, and choral conducting studies at university. He trained in composition under several significant Australian composers, including Mary Mageau, and has channeled that training into writing hundreds of children's songs across guitar, ukulele, and percussion curricula.

Since 1997, Dauer has devoted his career to teaching students ages 5 through 17, with the bulk of his work in the primary years (ages 5-12). His recent compositional focus on choral music for young ensembles draws directly from his classroom; he writes pieces that reflect the personalities, humor, and lived experiences of his own students. He views music as essential to human development and remains committed to making music accessible and joyful for children of all abilities.
