About the Composer: Robert Sheldon

Robert Sheldon's compositions are performed more frequently in schools and concert halls worldwide than those of nearly any other wind band composer working today. His catalogue spans decades of commissions, educational works, and concert pieces that consistently appear on state contest lists and all-state honor band programs. He serves as lead author of Sound Innovations for Concert Band and has received recognition from the American School Band Directors Association, Phi Beta Mu, and ASCAP for his contributions to wind music.

Sheldon maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor for honor bands and clinician at universities and state music education conferences across the United States and internationally, including appearances in Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia, and China. His works have been performed at Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center. In 2020, VanderCook College of Music awarded him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his influence on music education.
