About the Composer: Robert Sheldon
Robert Sheldon stands among today's most widely performed composers for wind band. His works appear on festival and contest programs internationally, and his commissions sustain a prolific output across multiple ensembles and performance contexts. He authored Sound Innovations for Concert Band, the foundational series that anchors many band programs.
Sheldon has conducted All-State and Regional Honor Bands throughout North America and abroad, including appearances in Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia, and China. His works have been performed at Carnegie Hall, Orchestra Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center. The American School Band Director's Association, Phi Beta Mu, and ASCAP have all recognized his contributions to wind band literature. VanderCook College of Music awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2020.
