About the Composer: Loreta Fin

Loreta Fin AM has shaped string education in Australia for three decades as Director of Strings at Somerville House School in Brisbane. A trained violinist and long-time principal viola with the Queensland Pops Orchestra, she brings deep performance experience to her compositions and teaching. She studied at the Sydney Conservatorium and has performed alongside internationally recognized soloists and ensembles throughout her career.

Beyond the classroom, Fin has been instrumental in the Australian Strings Association, serving as both State and National President over a 25-year tenure. She regularly conducts honors ensembles across Australia, adjudicates at major competitions, and has presented at national conferences in both Australia and the United States. Her 100+ published works for string orchestra reflect a sophisticated understanding of what young players need to grow. In recognition of her contributions to string music and pedagogy, she received the National Award for Services to Music and String Teaching in Australia.
