About the Composer: Richard Meyer

Richard Meyer brings three decades of string teaching experience into every piece he writes. He spent 22 years directing orchestras at Oak Avenue Intermediate School in Temple City, California, where he transformed a program of 29 students into one of 200, and he led the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra for 16 years in performances across North America, Europe, and Australia. Beyond the podium, Meyer designed the "Giving Bach" program, which uses interactive concerts to reach students with special needs and underserved communities throughout Southern California, earning national recognition for its innovative approach.

As a composer and arranger, Meyer has published over 190 works and spent 16 years as string editor for Alfred Publishing Company. He co-authored the String Explorer Series and Sight-read It for Strings, drawing on his direct knowledge of what young string players need at every stage. Meyer has been a featured clinician at the A.S.T.A. National Conference, the Texas Orchestra Directors' Association Conference, and string workshops at Ohio State University and Birch Bay, Washington. He currently lives in Sierra Madre, California with his wife, Rose.
