About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams built his reputation as a composer who understood the needs of developing band programs. His catalog of over 200 works for band, orchestra, and choir reflects decades of experience teaching elementary and middle school musicians in Washington state. A bassoon performer himself, Williams earned degrees from Eastern Washington University and served as a woodwind arranger for the 560th Air Force Band, bringing both pedagogical insight and professional musicianship to his writing.

Beyond the page, Williams was a tireless clinician and guest conductor, visiting 34 U.S. states, 5 Canadian provinces, and Australia to work with student ensembles. He co-authored the Accent on Achievement Band Method, a foundational resource for countless programs, and received multiple ASCAP Special Awards and recognition from the Western International Band Clinic. His leadership extended to the concert hall, where he served as conductor and artistic director of the Spokane British Brass Band.
