About the Composer: Adrian B. Sims
Adrian B. Sims, born in Seattle in 2000, is a composer and conductor who studied at the University of Maryland under Robert Gibson and Brian Balmages. His work has appeared at The Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, earned recognition on the Bandworld Top 100 List, and won multiple composition competitions including the Maryland Music Educators Association Young Composers Project and the Make Music Young Composers Contest.
As a trombonist, Sims has performed across Maryland's top ensembles, from pit orchestras to jazz bands and concert groups, and sat with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra during his high school years. He currently studies composition and music education at Maryland while playing in the university's premier ensembles, crediting his band directors Christopher Gnagey and Cindy Stevenson with shaping his musical foundation.
