About the Composer: Richard Meyer

Richard Meyer spent 35 years teaching strings across elementary, middle, and high school levels in California public schools. At Oak Avenue Intermediate School in Temple City, he transformed a program of 29 students into a thriving ensemble of 200, while simultaneously directing the city's elementary string initiative. For 16 years he led the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra, taking them on performance tours across North America, Europe, and Australia.

Beyond the classroom, Meyer has established himself as a prolific composer with over 190 published works and arrangements, served as string editor for Alfred Publishing Company, and co-authored several widely-used method books including the String Explorer Series. His "Giving Bach" program, launched in 2009, has earned national recognition for using interactive concerts to reach special needs and underserved students throughout Southern California. He has been a featured clinician at major conferences including the A.S.T.A. National Conference and guest-conducted All-State orchestras in multiple states.
