Gary Fagan

Gary Fagan grew up in Maryland and built a distinguished career as both an educator and composer. After earning his undergraduate degree in Music Education from Bridgewater College and his master's degree from James Madison University, he spent 36 years leading band programs in Albemarle County before transitioning to university teaching. His work has been performed at prestigious venues including the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, the White House, and gubernatorial events.

Fagan's contributions to music education have earned him recognition as Central Virginia's Outstanding Middle School Teacher, an Outstanding Educator Award from the Virginia Governor's School for the Visual and Performing Arts, and multiple listings in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." He remains active as a clinician, adjudicator, and arranger while serving as a University Supervisor at JMU and as a percussionist and Assistant Director with the Charlottesville Band. He holds memberships in ASCAP, Phi Beta Mu Bandmasters Fraternity, and the National Band Association.
