About the Authors
Martha Mier is an internationally acclaimed composer and clinician whose educational piano works have earned her a place among today's most performed composers. Since joining Alfred Music Publishing in 1989, her pieces have reached students at every level worldwide. Her Jazz, Rags & Blues series and Romantic Impressions series stand out as particularly popular collections.
A Florida State University graduate and member of Sigma Alpha Iota, Mier holds state and national piano teacher certification through the Music Teachers National Association, the Florida State Music Teachers Association, and the National Guild of Piano Teachers. More than 200 of her educational publications have been released by Alfred, and she co-authored the Premier Piano Course. Her works have also been selected multiple times for the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Festival Bulletin.
Throughout her career, Mier has maintained an active piano studio in Lake City, Florida while serving as both a church musician and professional accompanist. She regularly presents clinics and adjudicates competitions, having led workshops for teachers in Australia, New Zealand, and across the United States at conferences including the Music Teachers National Association Conference, the National Piano Teachers Institute, and the World Piano Pedagogy Conference.

June C. Montgomery is an honor graduate of Florida State University with over two decades of private piano instruction experience. She spent six years teaching elementary school music, where she earned recognition as an Outstanding Elementary Teacher of America and membership in Delta Kappa Gamma.
Her published works for Alfred Publishing Company include numerous piano solos and several influential instructional series: FUNdamental Musicianship Skills, Piano Camp, and Theory Through the Year for Alfred's Basic Piano Library. She co-authored the Meet the Great Composers books alongside Maurice Hinson and developed the Musical Concepts series for Alfred's Basic Piano Library in collaboration with Martha Mier.
Montgomery has served as a clinician at district and state conventions throughout Florida, the Glover International Workshop in Virginia, and national Music Teachers National Association conventions. Her contributions to music extend beyond education; she actively serves as a pianist and children's choir director in the Presbyterian Church and holds the position of carillonneur at the Stephen Foster Memorial.
