About the Composer: Richard Meyer

Richard Meyer brings three decades of string teaching experience into his composing and conducting work. He shaped the orchestral program at Oak Avenue Intermediate School in Temple City, California, expanding it from 29 students to 200 over 22 years, and led the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra for 16 years in performances across North America, Europe, and Australia. His "Giving Bach" program, launched in 2009, has earned national recognition for using interactive concerts to reach students with special needs and underserved communities throughout Southern California.

As a composer, Meyer has published over 190 works and arrangements, establishing himself as a fixture in school orchestra repertoire. He served 16 years as string editor for Alfred Publishing Company and co-authored influential string method resources including the String Explorer Series and Sight-Read It for Strings. Meyer remains active as a guest conductor and clinician, having presented at the A.S.T.A. National Conference, the Texas Orchestra Directors' Association Conference, and string workshops at major universities.
