About This Collection
Description
Federation Quartets gives piano students a chance to play together at the keyboard with arrangements designed for two pianos and eight hands. The collection spans from late elementary through advanced levels, so you can find pieces that work for your studio's mixed ability groups. Popular titles include Over the Rainbow by Harold Arlen, Don't Stop Believin' by Journey, and Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring by Bach. You'll find masterwork arrangements alongside patriotic and pop selections, many of which align with Federation Festivals requirements.
Highlights
Over the Rainbow by Harold Arlen remains the most popular title in this collection, available in both intermediate and late intermediate versions. Don't Stop Believin' by Journey gives you a contemporary option at the intermediate level that students actually want to play. Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring by Bach serves as a reliable late intermediate choice for teachers seeking classical repertoire.
Composer Spotlight
Melody Bober earned her degree in music education from the University of Illinois and a master's in piano performance from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. Her arrangement of Over the Rainbow reflects her compositional approach of creating motivational pieces that deepen students' musical understanding. John W. Schaum and Virginia Speiden Carper bring extensive arranging experience to this collection, with Schaum's Finlandia and Carper's 7 Classical Favorites providing solid baroque and classical material for mixed ability groups.
