About the Composer: Erik Morales

Erik Morales has built a prolific career bridging artistic ambition and educational accessibility. Born in New York City in 1966, he began composing while still in high school, arranging music for a marching band in south Florida in 1985. After earning his bachelor's degree from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette (1989) and studying composition at Florida International University, he entered the educational music publishing world and has since produced over 150 published works across wind, orchestral, jazz, and chamber settings.

As a trumpet specialist, Morales has made significant contributions to the trumpet repertoire, with award-winning trumpet ensembles and major premieres at the International Trumpet Guild conferences in 2009, 2013, and beyond. His work consistently balances compositional craftsmanship with pedagogical usefulness. In 2016, he was inducted into the Louisiana Association for Jazz Education's Hall of Fame, recognition of his lasting impact on music education and performance.
