About the Composer: Barry E. Kopetz

Barry E. Kopetz conducts the Wind Symphony and Chamber Winds at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, where he also teaches conducting, rehearsal techniques, and arranging. He earned degrees from Ohio State University (bachelor's and master's) and Indiana University (doctorate with distinction), and studied conducting with Frederick Fennell in Tokyo in 1989.

Kopetz has composed and arranged more than 50 published works for band and other ensembles. His career spans positions at the University of Utah, University of Minnesota, Bowling Green State University, and public school districts in Ohio and South Carolina. Active as a guest conductor and adjudicator throughout the United States and Australia, he is a frequent contributor to Instrumentalist magazine and has orchestrated music for television and film. He was elected to membership in the American Bandmasters Association in 1998.
