About the Composer: Douglas E. Wagner

Douglas E. Wagner grew up in Chicago and earned degrees in music from Butler University. He spent three decades as a high school music director and administrator before transitioning to full-time composition, a shift that has proven extraordinarily prolific. Since 1973, Wagner has composed and arranged more than 3,500 works across nearly every medium: concert band, orchestra, choir, handbell ensemble, organ, piano, and voice. His music has reached an estimated seventeen million copies worldwide and appears regularly in concert halls, broadcasts, and festival programs across North America and internationally.

Based in Indianapolis with his wife Sandy, Wagner continues to be one of the most widely performed American composers in school music. His intimate knowledge of what works in the rehearsal room and concert hall shapes every score he writes.
