About the Composer: JaRod Hall

JaRod Hall

JaRod Hall, born in 1991, studied music education at the University of North Texas and earned a master's degree from Texas State University. His teachers shaped him across multiple disciplines: Don Little and Dr. Michael Ippolito in composition, Dennis Fisher in performance, and Nicholas Williams and Caroline Beatty in conducting. He performs on tuba and trombone and has played principal chair with the Texas State Wind Symphony, performed with the North Texas Wind Symphony and 3 O'Clock Lab Band, and served as drum major for the 2013 Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps.

As a band director for eight years, Hall's students consistently earned sweepstakes recognition at UIL evaluations, with a 2018 middle school band at Griffin Middle School becoming the first in Frisco ISD to win the Citation of Excellence for non-varsity ensembles. His own resume includes four years on Texas All-State Band (twice on tuba, once as first-chair jazz bass trombone in the state) and selection for the 2014 Disneyland All-American College Band. His compositions appear on the Texas Prescribed Music List, J.W. Pepper's Editor's Choice, and Bandworld's Top 100; his fanfare 'Silver Fanfare' won the 2020 Dallas Winds Call for Fanfares, and 'Through the Storm' received the 2021 Barbara Buehlman Prize.
