About the Composer: Steve Hodges

Steve Hodges brings four decades of public school band directing experience to his composition work. He holds degrees from Western Oregon University (Bachelor of Science) and Central Washington University (Master of Music Education), grounding his understanding of what works in the rehearsal room and what students can actually play.

Since 1986, Hodges has composed over 120 concert band pieces published by Alfred Music, along with choral arrangements for Staff Music and Shawnee Press. His works have appeared at festivals and state conventions across the United States and internationally, with commissions from honor bands and schools in Virginia, Iowa, British Columbia, Oregon, Washington, and North Carolina. His music has also been licensed by TBS and ESPN. A member of ASCAP, Hodges retired from full-time teaching and now lives in The Dalles, Oregon, where he remains active in community music and watches his grandchildren perform his compositions in their school bands.
