Dennis Alexander

Dennis Alexander has composed over 400 pieces for piano students across all levels, establishing himself as a leading voice in educational piano literature since partnering with Alfred Music Publishing in 1986. His career spans four decades of teaching, performing, and composing. Alexander earned his degree from the University of Kansas and spent 24 years on the faculty at the University of Montana, where he taught piano pedagogy and served as piano department chair. After relocating to California, he continued teaching at Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Northridge while maintaining an active performance schedule as soloist and collaborative artist.

Beyond the classroom and studio, Alexander has built an international presence as a clinician at state and national music teachers conventions and as a commissioned composer for numerous organizations. His performance credentials include a Carnegie Recital Hall debut in 1987 and recitals throughout Asia, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, and South Korea. He currently resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he continues composing and touring under the Alfred Music Publishing banner.
