Robert Sheldon ranks among the most widely performed composers of concert band repertoire in the world. His works appear regularly on state and national contest lists, and ensembles from elementary through professional levels perform his music across Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America. Sheldon has received honors from the American School Band Directors Association, Phi Beta Mu, and ASCAP, and he holds a honorary doctorate from VanderCook College of Music.
Beyond composition, Sheldon serves as lead author of Sound Innovations for Concert Band and maintains an active schedule as guest conductor for All-State and regional honor bands. He has conducted his own works at Carnegie Hall, Orchestra Hall, Symphony Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center, and regularly presents clinics and seminars at universities and state music education conferences.
