About the Composer: Christopher Goldston

Christopher Goldston earned his Master of Music in piano performance and pedagogy from Northwestern University and his Bachelor of Music from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. He has held faculty positions at Columbia College Chicago, Roosevelt University, and Sherwood Conservatory of Music, and continues to teach private piano students both in-person in Chicago and online.

Goldston's compositional voice has been recognized throughout his career. His first composition, Night Train, won the National Federation of Music Clubs Lynn Freeman Olson Composition Award in 1991. Since 2010, he has served as national coordinator for the MTNA Composition Competition, shaping how emerging composers are discovered and celebrated. In 2022, MTNA commissioned him to compose Four Virtues for oboe, violin, and piano, which premiered at the national conference. Goldston was named an MTNA Foundation Fellow in 2020 and served as MTNA National Secretary-Treasurer from 2021 through 2023.
