About the Composer: Bob Phillips
Bob Phillips brings three decades of hands-on string teaching into every piece he writes. A builder of large ensemble programs, he's authored over 25 instructional series and created more than 200 works for orchestras and bands, many of which have premiered at the Midwest Clinic. His approach balances classical foundations with eclectic styles, jazz, rock, Latin, folk, making him one of the most performed educational composers in the field today.
Phillips spent 27 years developing the string program in Saline, Michigan into a nationally recognized model, where he also founded the internationally touring Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic. He has guest conducted at honor orchestras across the country and served as resident conductor for the Wintergrass Festival in Seattle. His instructional DVDs and clinics reach thousands of teachers annually.
