Dennis Alexander

Dennis Alexander has shaped piano education for decades through his prolific output with Alfred Music Publishing, beginning in 1986. His more than 400 published works and recordings have made him one of the most performed composers of educational piano repertoire worldwide. He taught piano pedagogy at the University of Montana for 24 years, later moving to California where he held faculty positions at Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Northridge while maintaining an active private teaching studio.

Beyond the classroom, Alexander has established himself as a performing artist and clinician. He made his Carnegie Recital Hall debut in 1987 and has served as a collaborative pianist for recognized soloists and chamber ensembles. A former president of the Montana State Music Teachers Association, he remains a sought-after presenter at state and national conventions. His commissions and international touring have taken him across Asia and beyond, and he continues composing from his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
