Dennis Alexander

Dennis Alexander has shaped educational piano repertoire for decades through his prolific output as a composer. Since joining Alfred Music Publishing in 1986, he has created over 400 published works and recordings that have established him as a leading voice in piano pedagogy at all levels.

Alexander's career reflects deep roots in both performance and teaching. He spent 24 years as a piano pedagogy professor at the University of Montana, where he also chaired the piano department, before relocating to California to teach at Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Northridge. His performance credentials include a New York debut at Carnegie Recital Hall and extensive international touring throughout Southeast Asia. Based in Albuquerque, he remains active as a composer, clinician, and chamber musician, having been commissioned by numerous organizations and serving as adjudicator for national competitions.
