About the Artist: Doris Preucil

Doris Preucil founded and directed the Preucil School of Music while maintaining an active performance career as a violinist with the Washington National Symphony and Rochester Philharmonic. She holds an honors degree from the Eastman School of Music and taught at Western Illinois University, the University of Northern Iowa, and Interlochen Arts Camp, performing and leading workshops across the United States, Canada, Europe, South America, Asia, and Australia.

As a Suzuki educator since 1963, Preucil authored the Suzuki Viola School and shaped the international Suzuki movement as a founding Board Member of the International Suzuki Association and Past President of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Her contributions earned her the Iowa String Teachers Association's Teacher of the Year award in 2005 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from Eastman in 2004.
