Jacquelyn Dillon

Jacquelyn Dillon has shaped string education across the United States through three decades of teaching, conducting, and mentoring. She founded award-winning orchestra programs in Derby, Kansas and Norman, Oklahoma, then extended her influence nationally as a clinician and guest conductor, making nearly 1,000 professional appearances at state conferences, all-state festivals, and major symposia including the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic. Her work as professor of string music education at Wichita State University, conductor of the university chamber orchestra and Wichita Youth Symphony Chamber Players, and current president of the American String Teachers Association reflects her sustained commitment to developing both students and teachers.

Dillon's expertise in group string pedagogy earned her invitations to teach graduate-level courses at more than 50 universities. She has served as educational director for Scherl and Roth and editor of Orchestra News, roles that amplified her voice in the field. The Strictly Strings series emerged from her years working directly with students and teachers, translating her understanding of how young musicians develop musicianship and technical independence into a practical, sequential curriculum.
