Stone, Salt and Sky by Sally Beamish is a 15-minute duet for violin and cello in three movements. The work reflects the colours and open spaces of Orkney (Scotland), and it’s music, as well as a reference to other musical genres, for instance bluegrass and blues.



Stone, Salt and Sky was commissioned by Chamber Music Scotland for Gaia, and first performed on 20th May 2021 as part of the St Magnus online festival, by Gaia: Katrina Lee and Alice Allen.
