About the Composer: Robert Sheldon

Robert Sheldon ranks among the most frequently performed composers for wind band. His works appear on international festival and contest programs regularly, and his music resonates across ensemble levels and audiences worldwide. He developed the Sound Innovations for Concert Band series as its lead author and continues to produce new compositions annually while accepting commissions from ensembles across the country.

Sheldon's recognition includes awards from the American School Band Director's Association, Phi Beta Mu, and ASCAP. He has guest conducted All-State and Regional Honor Bands throughout his career and presented clinics at universities and state music education conferences across the United States and internationally (Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia, and China). His works have been performed at Carnegie Hall, Chicago's Orchestra Hall, Boston's Symphony Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center. VanderCook College of Music awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2020.
