About the Composer: Brian Balmages

Brian Balmages has built a reputation as a composer and conductor working fluidly across orchestral, band, and chamber settings. His works have been premiered by professional orchestras and school ensembles alike in halls ranging from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House, and he was honored with the A. Austin Harding Award from the American School Band Directors Association and the 2020 NBA William D. Revelli Composition Contest.

As Director of MakeMusic Publications and Digital Education for Alfred and MakeMusic, Balmages continues to shape how musicians learn and perform. He holds memberships in the American Bandmasters Association, has served as guest conductor at the Midwest Clinic and College Band Directors Conference, and was commissioned by the University of Miami to compose for the presidential inauguration. His music was performed during the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Prayer Service.
