About the Composer: Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest has spent over three decades in the classroom at F.E. Peacock Middle School in Itasca, Illinois, where his deep understanding of young musicians shaped every note he writes. His compositions are performed globally, and his influence extends far beyond his own works; he contributed to several foundational method books including Measures of Success and Warm-ups and Beyond. In 2017, his composition Cloud Gate drew over 5,000 listeners to Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.

Loest's prolific output spans multiple publishers, from major houses like Warner Bros. and C.L. Barnhouse to his own Fanfare Music Press, founded in 2022 to champion high-quality band compositions and arrangements. His music has appeared on national television programs including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America. He holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, maintains ASCAP membership, and continues to accept commissions for band.
