Robert Sheldon

Robert Sheldon stands among the most frequently performed composers in the wind band repertoire today. His work as lead author of Sound Innovations for Concert Band has shaped music education curricula across the country, while his compositions have earned recognition from the American School Band Director's Association, Phi Beta Mu, and ASCAP. His music appears regularly on contest and concert programs internationally, performed by ensembles ranging from high school bands to professional orchestras.

Sheldon maintains an active schedule as guest conductor for All-State and Regional Honor Bands, and he presents clinics and seminars at colleges, universities, and state music education conferences throughout North America and abroad, including appearances in Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia, and China. His works have been performed at Carnegie Hall, Orchestra Hall in Chicago, Boston Symphony Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. In 2020, VanderCook College of Music awarded him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to music education and composition.
