About the Composer: Kirk Vogel

Kirk Vogel holds degrees in music education from Capital University (1980) and the University of Northern Colorado (1987). Throughout his career in Colorado public schools, he taught band, orchestra, choir, and jazz at multiple levels, including extended tenure at Heath Middle School in Greeley, where both his symphonic and jazz bands earned invitations to perform at the Colorado Music Educators Association Convention.

As a composer, Vogel has built a substantial catalog published by Kjos Music, Alfred, Grand Mesa, and Southern Music. His works have won the CMEA Composers Competition four times and received performances by the Pittsburgh Symphony, Greeley Philharmonic, university and community ensembles, and student groups across all age levels. In retirement, he remains active as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician at state and regional music education conferences. An ASCAP member, Vogel resides in Greeley with his wife, Susan.
